Robert Silverman

Non-profit organization leader and former senior US diplomat


Bob is a non-profit organization leader and former senior US diplomat.  He is the Managing Editor of the Jerusalem Strategic Tribune, a lecturer in Middle Eastern Studies at Shalem College (Israel) and a senior fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security. He founded the Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council at the American Jewish Committee.  He was elected to be the President of the American Foreign Service Association by the association’s 17,000 members.  He served as  Chargé d’Affaires of the US embassy to Sweden, political counselor of the US Embassy to Israel, and economic counselor of the US embassy to Saudi Arabia, among other diplomatic postings.  His work in Iraq was profiled in the Wall Street Journal, and he has published opinion essays in Foreign Policy, USA Today, The Forward and the Foreign Service Journal.  He is fluent in Arabic, Hebrew and Turkish.  Bob is married with three children and one slightly spoiled dog.
